Student Highlight: Emma Hilton

Driven, compassionate, and dependable; this is how Communication Team Graduate Assistant, Emma Hilton, describes herself. It’s these skills, along with her unwavering work ethic and willingness to learn, that enabled her to overcome all the challenging projects she has been a part of at the Digital Corps.

“One project that challenged me was an AI introduction speech for President Mearns.”

Though unfamiliar with the topic at hand, Emma was up to the challenge and dove deep into research. With the support of her team, Emma was able to turn over a very comprehensive script that beat the quick deadline.

Working collaboratively and leadership are two significant aspects of being the Comm Team GA. Luckily, working in this type of environment is nothing new to Emma. It’s where she thrives. Emma just completed her final season on the Ball State Field Hockey team where she was named captain. Through this experience she not only learned how to work with a team but also gained the experience of how to lead a team.

“I’ve always loved working in teams. After finishing my field hockey career, it was nice to have another team like environment to collaborate with people. I think that working with students on different teams, ages or from different origins offers a unique perspective and allows you to continually learn and grow.”

With a love for sports and the outdoors, when she’s not in the office, you can find Emma practicing yoga, on the pickleball courts, or embracing her new role as part of the Ball State Field Hockey team’s coaching staff.

During her time at the Digital Corps, Emma realized she has been able to combine her passion for athletics and interest in the communications field while taking on a project that involved both!

“My favorite project I worked on all the Corps was the Ball State Football All Century Voting. This was the first project where I was able to combine my love and knowledge of sports with communications and marketing”

Emma is excited to take the experiences she’s had at the Corps into the professional world as she searches for a career that combines sports and communications.
