Student Highlight: Missy Rambissoon

Spurred on by the media industry, Missy Rambissoon finds herself among passionate creatives in her media and film journey. In her time at The Digital Corps, as a Video Specialist, and majoring in Media with a concentration in Video Production, Missy has grown into friendships and formed a community that will support her long after she graduates.

One of Missy’s strengths is being open-minded, and it has helped her excel in her media career. It did not always come easy for Missy to work through challenges, and she sought to give up on most things when they got hard. However, The Digital Corps is a melting pot of students from a plethora of backgrounds and Missy finds this to increase her productivity when starting new projects, especially with other teams. Now, she utilizes her growth mindset and her peers to help her. Take a quick turnaround for a video shoot, for example. What could have been a roadblock is now a seamless transition into a final product.

“The Video Team goes out to shoot one of the last rehearsals of the College of Fine Arts shows, and we must have it edited and submitted the next day. It can be stressful, but with our team it always seems to go smoothly.”

Challenges are inevitable when working with clients. A project that challenged Missy the most was the Ball State Recycling video shoot. This shoot needed to be very straight forward and get the point across to the viewer.  So, Missy and her team collaborated closely with their client to create a true, authentic project. After weeks of re-shoots and edits, the final product was nothing short of impeccable.

Although we all know Missy as a stellar director and media producer, she is just as full of life outside of the Corps. Missy has a knack for picking up crafts with ease and over the years, Missy has added to her long list of talents—soap making, baking, sewing, and embroidery, just to name a few. And of course, when she is not focused on a new hobby, she loves to hang out with friends and binge movies, like psychological horror and romcom. Some of her favorite movies are Nosferatu (1922) and House (1977).

The skills Missy has honed at the Digital Corps will set her apart in her future endeavors. She is a bright light in the office, never lacking energy or creative insight. The Digital Corps is forever grateful to have a bright mind like Missy’s grow and flourish in our office.
